To announce their arrival on the scene, The Secrets 1996 debut independent album 'Other Times' was a highly schizophrenic affair. On the one hand, the collection included a brace of dizzying pop songs ('The Hole In The Wall', 'One More Time' and 'Just For Me') whilst on the other, the band powered through a distinctly heavier edge with numbers such as 'Glove Puppets' and the album's opener, 'This Spring'. The songs were harvested from material culled from Herriott, Richardson and Nicholson's respective 'back-catalogues' (hence he album's title) and betrayed a wide pool of influences...a taste of the eclectic range of music that the band would subsequently churn out. |
